REGISTERED NON-INVASIVE IV TECHNICIAN (RNIIVT)
A Registered Non-Invasive IV Technician (RNIIVT) is a healthcare professional responsible for supporting procedures related to the initiation, administration, and maintenance of physician ordered IV therapy. It’s crucial to differentiate between invasive and noninvasive procedures. Invasive tasks like initiating or flushing an IV pose additional risks to patients and usually demand specialized training. On the other hand, noninvasive procedures, such as setting up IV equipment and monitoring or discontinuing an IV, involve lower patient risk and are often within the scope of certified personnel.
Adherence to state regulations and facility policies is essential in this role. To apply for the examination, prior written approval from your facility/employer is a prerequisite.
