REGISTERED PHLEBOTOMY SPECIALIST (RPS)
The Registered Phlebotomy Specialist (RPS) is responsible for meticulously collecting high-quality samples from veins and capillaries in both adult and pediatric patients, to achieve optimal laboratory results. In addition to delivering quality patient care, the phlebotomist emphasizes minimizing pre-analytical errors to enhance the accuracy of patient treatment and diagnosis. Proficiency is ensured through a comprehensive 2-part examination—Clinical and Science—which assures employers that recent graduates have acquired the essential skills and knowledge outlined in adherence to national standards established by the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), ultimately reducing the occurrence of pre-analytical errors.
