REGISTERED SKILLED CLINICAL NURSING SPECIALIST (RSCNS)
A Registered Skilled Clinical Nursing Specialist is a healthcare professional who holds a nursing degree and has obtained additional training in Phlebotomy, Cardiac Telemetry, EKG, IV-line insertion and Sutures.
Nursing graduates are not trained phlebotomists; yet the scope of practice allows nurses to draw blood. This plays a role in statistics showing pre-analytical errors in blood tests. Hence the creation of this credential.
